Crystal Palace vs Leicester player ratings: Cahill error costs Palace, Zaha & Tomkins impress

Vicente Guaita

Showed his presence early and did very well to come out to Vardy's feet and collect the ball on the edge of the 18-yard area as half time approached. Was caught out when coming to collect from one free kick but otherwise a decent outing punctuated by a great save from Jonny Evans. 6.

Joel Ward

Kept Harvey Barnes quiet for most of the afternoon and looked promising going forward too. 6.

James Tomkins

Solid performance from the centre half once again. Two incredible tackles to stop Jamie Vardy going clear through. 7.

Gary Cahill

It looked like it would be another disciplined and composed performance from Cahill but he seemed to lose Caglar Soyuncu for the opening goal. Recovered well after his clash of heads to see out the game. 5.

Patrick van Aanholt

Incredible work-rate to get up and down the pitch as always that was embodied by his effort to catch Ayoze Perez coming from the opposite flank to stop a chance on goal. Perez did see some joy down his flank however. 6.

Cheik Kouyate

Looked very good when carrying the ball at pace, and was disciplined in taking his opportunities to intercept the ball as Leicester put on pressure. 6.

Luka Milivojevic

Picked up a few fouls as you'd expect but like the rest of the midfield performed admirably. Kept James Maddison out of the game for most of the 90 minutes. 7.

Jeffrey Schlupp

Looked very at home on the left of the midfield three and his dynamism was impressive when carrying the ball forwards and interchanging with Wilfried Zaha. 6.

Wilfried Zaha

Had some lively moments in the first half to remind the Foxes of his threat and seemed to be relentless clipped by the opposition. 7.

James McArthur

The midfielder started slightly higher up the pitch against Leicester, as the Eagles looked to press the Leicester backline. His usual qualities were perhaps less obvious but Ben Chilwell was left unable to attack effectively on the left. 6.

Jordan Ayew

So much strength and quality to battle when outnumbered against the Foxes on the halfway line. 6.

Substitutes

Max Meyer (Kouyate): Had a few nice touches before being fouled and Leicester started to enjoy more possession. 5.

James McCarthy (McArthur): Was unable to impact the game 5.

Christian Benteke (Ayew): Looked good in the air but never had too much opportunity to change the game. 5.
