Crystal Palace vs Everton team news and predicted lineups
Zaha was sent home from training on Thursday with Hodgson suggesting the winger was not "in the right frame of mind" after his hopes of a move away fell through on deadline day.
However, the manager has since suggested that the wantaway star could still play a part against Everton, warning him that he must deal with any potential reactions to the saga from fans at Selhurst Park.
James Tomkins (groin), Jeffrey Schlupp (ankle) and Mamadou Sakho (knee) are all out of contention. New signings James McCarthy and Victor Camarasa could play some part.
As for Everton, new signing Fabian Delph is sidelined with a thigh injury suffered during pre-season and veteran left-back Leighton Baines is doubtful.
Djibril Sidibe, Jean-Philippe Gbamin, Alex Iwobi and Moise Kean will be pushing to make their debuts.
Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-2 Everton
Keeping hold of Zaha will be considered a big win at Selhurst, but it could well be another long season for the Eagles.
Everton have seriously strengthened in the summer window, and will be confident of leaving south London with three points.
