Crystal Palace vs Arsenal team news: Alexander Sorloth provides Roy Hodgson with a new line of attack

Crystal Palace expect to have Alexander Sorloth back from a virus against Arsenal to give Roy Hodgson another option for his goal-shy forward line.

Sorloth missed the 2-0 defeat to Everton at the weekend but he is set to return when Palace play Arsenal at Selhurst Park on Sunday.

The 22-year-old Norway international has managed only one goal since joining Palace for £9million in January and has yet to start a Premier League game this season.

But Sorloth at least provides Hodgson with another option, with Palace desperately short of goals and Christian Benteke out with a knee injury.

Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend were used as centre forwards at Goodison Park and, while both players ran tirelessly, Palace lacked a cutting edge.

The struggling Eagles have scored just five League goals this season — only Huddersfield have scored fewer — and Hodgson is acutely aware he must find a way to increase that tally.

Benteke was initially expected to be sidelined until the new year, but Hodgson said the Belgium striker could be back as soon as next month.
