Crystal Palace vs Arsenal player ratings: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sent off as Mesut Ozil misfires again

Arsenal survived playing the final 25 minutes without captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to claim a 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace after the striker was sent off following a Video Assistant Referee review.

The visitors went in front early on through the Gabonese international, who was on the end of a slick move that started from the back as David Luiz slid a low-flat pass through to Mesut Ozil, who laid the ball off to Alexandre Lacazette to slip Aubameyang in and finish coolly for his 14th goal of the season.

Arsenal dominated the first half, but as half-time approached a feeling was spreading that they had not made the most of their first-half advantage that could come back to haunt them.

Inevitably it did as Jordan Ayew capitalised on poor Arsenal defence, with the away side switching off at a free-kick as Chiekhou Kouyate was allowed the cross into the heart of the box, allowing Wilfried Zaha to lash the ball goalbound and loop over the head of goalkeeper Bernd Leno via flicks off Luiz and finally Ayew.

Aubameyang then received his marching orders in the 25th minute, with referee Paul Tierney upgrading a yellow card to a straight red following advice from VAR Craig Pawson, with the striker dismissed for a studs-up challenge on midfielder Max Meyer.

Palace pushed for the winner due to their numerical advantage, but Arsenal were able to hold on for a point.
