Crystal Palace vow to take action against fan who allegedly 'made plane gesture' in Man Utd defeat

Crystal Palace have promised to take strong action after a fan was caught allegedly making a plane gesture in the midweek game against Manchester United.

In the video filmed by a United fan, the supporter appears to make a gesture of a plane crash with hands towards the away fans at Selhurst Park.

The gesture, believed to be in relation to the Munich air disaster, was allegedly made during the Eagles' 3-1 defeat on Wednesday evening.

The 1958 crash left 23 people dead, including eight United players, and the club recently marked the 61st anniversary of the tragedy with a special memorial.

Palace have now opened an investigation after reporting the incident to the police and pledged to take strong action once the person is identified.

A club statement read: "We have been made aware of an incident captured on video involving a supporter at Selhurst Park during our last home game against Manchester United.

"The incident has been reported to the police and the club will be working with them to identify the individual responsible.

"We take a zero tolerance approach to this sort of behaviour, as and when the individual is identified, we will take the appropriate course of action.
