Crystal Palace transfer target Timothy Castagne reveals Premier League ambition

Crystal Palace target Timothy Castagne has admitted he would like to play in the Premier League one day, but his current priority is Atalanta.

The Belgian enjoyed a fine campaign with the Italian club last season and helped them finish third in Serie A, securing qualification to the Champions League.

The right-back’s performances have attracted interest from Crystal Palace, who view him as a possible replacement for Manchester United target Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Castagne is also being tracked by Celtic and Napoli and he has just one year remaining on his current contract at Atalanta.

The 23-year-old has admitted he is attracted to the possibility of playing in England should Palace firm up their interest.

However, Castagne has also revealed that at present he is only focusing on Atalanta.

“In Bergamo I feel great, I have never hidden that,” Castagne told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Now we are negotiating a contract renewal and I think it was right to start talking about it once the season had ended. I am calm, we will see what the owners’ plans will be.

“Serie A is a very competitive legue, I like it, but one day I would like to compete in the Premier League.

“As for the offers, I will be honest, in general there isn’t a lack of them, but the priority is Atalanta.

“In training I have given my all, even when I was out. The coach watched, has noticed and believed in me.

“I am satisfied, I think I have given my contribution for our historic Champions League [qualification].”
