Crystal Palace team news: Mateta and Mitchell benched, Kouyate, Benteke and Batshuayi return

Jean-Philippe Mateta is back on the bench for Crystal Palace as Roy Hodgson makes a few changes to the side that lost 2-0 against Leeds on Monday night.

Vicente Guaita starts in goal, as expected, with Nathaniel Clyne at right-back. Partnering Scott Dann at centre-back is Chiekhou Kouyate, with Patrick van Aanholt ousting Tyrick Mitchell from the left-back slot after both started against Leeds.

In the centre of midfield, it's as expected with Luka Milivojevic and Jairo Riedewald the only fit options. Jordan Ayew starts on the right with Ebere Eze on the left flank.

And in attack, Mateta drops to the bench with Michy Batshuayi partnering Christian Benteke in a duo.

Hodgson confirmed before the game that there was "nothing new to report, really" in regards to the injury situation, and that Wilfried Zaha would not be making a return against Burnley.

"Nothing new to report, really," Hodgson told reporters. "The only piece of good news for me is that Joel Ward is able to come back into the squad after having missed out on the last game against Leeds.

"But apart from that, all the players - the seven or eight that we've got injured at the moment are unfortunately all missing at the moment so we'll crack on with the ones we've got.

"It's only one week, maybe slightly longer than one week into [Zaha's] muscle injury. We're anticipating it'll take more time than that to recover.

"The same applies to McArthur, McCarthy. The same applies to James Tomkins, Jeff Schlupp. We've got Sakho still out of course, Connor Wickham hasn't recovered yet. So it's a very, very long list we have."

Crystal Palace XI: Guaita; Clyne, Dann, Kouyate, Van Aanholt; Ayew, Milivojevic, Riedewald, Eze; Batshuayi, Benteke.

Subs: Butland, Kelly, Ward, Cahill, Kelly, Mitchell, Townsend, Mateta.

Burnley XI: Pope; Lowton, Tarkowski, Mee, Pieters; McNeil, Westwood, Cork, Gudmundsson; Rodriguez, Barnes.

Subs: Peacock-Farrell, Long, Glennon, Dunne, Bardsley, Brownhill, Stephens, Mumbongo, Brady.
