Crystal Palace team news confirmed: Gary Cahill out, Scott Dann in as Leicester unchanged

Roy Hodgson has made just one change from the Crystal Palace side that lost to Chelsea last time out with Gary Cahill missing due to injury, as Scott Dann comes into the starting XI.

Vicente Guaita starts in goal with Joel Ward at right-back and Cheikhou Kouyate starting alongside Dann in the heart of defence. Patrick van Aanholt keeps his place at left-back with Tyrick Mitchell again restricted to a place on the bench after signing a new contract with the club.

In midfield, Luka Milivojevic and Jairo Riedewald will be marshalling the centre of the pitch with Jordan Ayew on the right flank and Ebere Eze on the left.

And in attack Christian Benteke will partner Wilfried Zaha as the Eagles look to stop a Leicester side aiming to take a big stride towards Champions League qualification.

Hodgson confirmed last week that the injury situation at Palace is improving, with a number of players approaching a return to action.

"We've got a lot of players back, funnily enough, which is good news," Hodgson told reporters. "Jeffrey Schlupp is training with us again, as is Mamadou Sakho - even James Tomkins is out there training.

"So in fact, this is as big a group as we’ve had training for a long time.

"We're still missing James McArthur, who is still having treatment. Gary Cahill has not trained for the last two or three days. He's nursing a minor problem but we’re hoping he can recover from that by the time that Monday comes around.

"Connor Wickham is out on the training field but not training with the squad as yet, as also applies to Nathan Ferguson.

"I think that's about it. I mean, to be honest, we’ve had so many in the past in the treatment room, it seems quite strange that I can name them now so quickly off the top of my head."

Crystal Palace XI: Guaita; Ward, Kouyate, Dann, Van Aanholt; Ayew, Milivojevic, Riedewald, Eze; Zaha, Benteke.

Subs: Butland, Clyne, Kelly, Mitchell, Schlupp, McCarthy, Townsend, Mateta, Batshuayi.

Leicester XI: Schmeichel; Fofana, Soyuncu, Evans; Castagne, Tielemans, Ndidi, Thomas; Maddison; Vardy, Iheanacho.

Subs: Albrighton, Ward, Perez, Amartey, Under, Choudhury, Ricardio, Mendy, Praet.
