Crystal Palace team news confirmed as Eberechi Eze makes his first Premier League start

Roy Hodgson has made one change to the team that beat Manchester United last weekend, with Eberechi Eze starting his first Premier League game for Palace.

The man unfortunate to drop out of the starting line up is Jeffrey Schlupp, who is not among the substitutes after starting all of Palace's games so far this season.

Vicente Guaita starts in goal hoping to keep his second clean sheet of the season, and will be assisted in defence by Joel Ward, Cheikhou Kouyate and Tyrick Mitchell.

In midfield, Andros Townsend will be hoping to cause some problems down Everton's left flank, with James McArthur and James McCarthy continuing in the centre and Eze on the left.

In attack, Hodgson sticks with a formula that has served Palace well so far, with Jordan Ayew and Wilfried Zaha hoping to make the difference at Selhurst Park.

Roy Hodgson said in his pre-match press conference that he was hoping to have Benteke back for the game against Everton, following his 45 minutes for the Under-23s on Monday against West Brom.

"Christian Benteke has been training all of this week so that’s someone I could count on of course for the game," he told reporters.

"One or two others have started to make an appearance but it’s a very brief appearance - not much beyond the warm up and any non-contact passing work.

"But otherwise, we're still looking pretty much at the squad we had last week."

Crystal Palace XI: Guaita; Ward, Kouyate, Sakho, Mitchell; Townsend, McArthur, McCarthy, Eze; Ayew, Zaha.

Subs: Hennessey, Kelly, Riedewald, Milivojevic, Meyer, Batshuayi, Benteke.

Everton XI: Pickford; Coleman, Mina, Keane, Digne; Doucoure, Gomes, Allan; Rodriguez, Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison.

Subs: Lossl, Kenny, Sigurdsson, Davies, Bernard, Iwobi, Kean.
