Crystal Palace striker drops transfer hint amid speculation over his future

Crystal Palace striker Alexander Sorloth has hinted that he would be happy to stay at Trabzonspor beyond the end of his loan spell.

The Norwegian striker has impressed on loan in Turkey, scoring 14 goals after making the move from Crystal Palace in the summer.

He had found his opportunities limited at Palace, with Sorloth struggling for form in south London with just one goal to his name since moving from FC Midtjylland in January 2018.

But the move to Trabzonspor has worked out well so far for the 24-year-old, with the striker scoring 18 goals in 29 appearances for club and country this season, including 12 goals in the Turkish Super Lig and two goals in the Europa League qualifying rounds.

Everything you need to know about the January transfer window

And Sorloth has opened up on how much he is enjoying his time in Turkey as he hinted at a longer stay.

"I'm glad to be here and be part of the team," he told Turkish newspaper Karadeniz Gazete.

"I enjoy working with both my team-mates and coaches.

"If I get the opportunity to be here in the future, I'd like it. I want to be here for as long as I can. I like the people here and people treat me very well."

Sorloth joined Trabzonspor in August on a loan deal that runs until the end of the 2020/21 season, having also spent time on loan at Belgian side KAA Gent last season.

He is not the only Palace striker who has been struggling for form with the Eagles in recent seasons though, with Christian Benteke scoring just four times since the beginning of the 2017/18 season, while Connor Wickham scored his first Premier League goal in more than three years on New Year's Day, after suffering with injuries in recent seasons.

Both players have been linked with moves away in the January transfer window, with Benteke reportedly attracting interest from Aston Villa, while Wickham is wanted on loan by Championship sides Bristol City, Nottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday.
