Crystal Palace star's comments to excite fans as Bournemouth get transfer boost

The countdown is on with less than two weeks until Crystal Palace are back in Premier League action.

The Eagles are busy preparing for the return of top flight football, with the Premier League season set to resume next week after a three-month suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Palace, like other Premier League clubs, have been back in training in recent weeks and they are now working towards their first game back against Bournemouth on Saturday June 20 - the first Premier League match to ever be broadcast live on the BBC.

Roy Hodgson's side will make the trip to the south coast to face the Cherries, who are battling to avoid relegation, with Eddie Howe's side currently sitting in the bottom three with nine games to play.

Fixtures confirmed as Premier League nears return

Ahead of the game, we look at the latest Palace headlines on the morning of Tuesday June 9.

Banks on his style of play

Young Crystal Palace star Scott Banks has given fans reason to be excited, describing his style of play as a mix of Wilfried Zaha and Max Meyer.

The 18-year-old joined from Dundee United in January before agreeing a loan to Alloa Athletic for the rest of the season, and says that his move to London has been eased by the first team squad.

"Everyone has been amazing," he told the club's official website.

"James McArthur has taken me under his wing a bit, being a fellow Scottish boy. James McCarthy has been great too.

"I'm a wide player, so I admire players like Zaha and even Max Meyer is close to what I'm like.

"Meyer may not have the pace of Zaha - who does? - but his close control and passing ability is great.

"Ultimately, I always think you've got to take a bit from everyone's game; you can learn from everyone no matter what the position."

Bournemouth boost

Bournemouth have received a boost ahead of the Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace next week.

Liverpool star Harry Wilson has extended his loan stay with the club until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old has scored seven goals this season for Bournemouth, and was one of many players whose future was uncertain with his deal set to lapse before the end of the 2019/20 season.

However, the attacker has confirmed he will be finishing the season on the south coast, and will thus be eligible to face Palace when the Premier League gets back underway on June 20.

Palace will travel to the Vitality Stadium, with the fixture being the first Premier League game ever to be broadcast live on the BBC.
