Crystal Palace star Patrick van Aanholt a summer transfer target for Leeds

Patrick van Aanholt has emerged as a target for Leeds this summer when his contract expires at Crystal Palace.

Elland Road boss Marcelo Bielsa is on the lookout for a new left-back after failing to bring one in during the January transfer window.

And Dutchman Van Aanholt is an option as he considers the next move of his career.

Bielsa has rotated between Stuart Dallas and Gianni Alioski this season, but the latter, like Van Aanholt, is in the final three months of his contract with his club.

That would leave the Leeds gaffer even shorter at left-back and Van Aanholt fits the profile of attacking full-back that he is after.

The former Chelsea and Sunderland player started the season as first-choice left-back at Selhurst Park but Tyrick Mitchell’s emergence has seen him in and out of the team.

He is one of a number of stars out of contract at Palace this summer with the club looking at a major rebuilding job.

If Van Aanholt does walk away from south London then Leeds will look to do a deal and would consider the capture of such an experienced player on a free transfer a real coup.

Bielsa has also looked at Liverpool ’s Yasser Larouci, who will leave Anfield this summer.
