Crystal Palace have confirmed the signing of midfielder Jordon Mutch from Queens Park Rangers on a four-and-a-half year contract for an undisclosed fee, believed to be £4.75m.
The 23-year-old, who only moved to QPR from Cardiff City in the summer, will be joined at Selhurst Park by the former Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi, who has signed for Alan Pardew’s side on a free transfer.
Mutch has found opportunities limited at Rangers despite impressing in the top flight with the Welsh club last season. He trained with Palace on Thursday, and could feature in Saturday’s game against Everton at Selhurst Park.

Palace’s squad strengthening before next week’s deadline is expected to continue with the arrival of Pape Souaré from Lille, while negotiations continue with Manchester United to make Wilfried Zaha’s loan spell back at the club permanent.
Souaré was first mooted as a potential signing last month but, having undertaken a medical in Equatorial Guinea, will now complete a £3.4m move from Lille following Senegal’s elimination from the Africa Cup of Nations at the hands of Algeria on Tuesday.
