Crystal Palace sign former Sunderland and Hamilton Accies goalkeeper on two-year deal

Crystal Palace have completed the signing of former Hamilton Academical goalkeeper Remi Matthews on a two-year deal.

The 27-year-old joins the English Premier League side after departing League One side Sunderland.

Matthews spent time on-loan at Accies during the 2016-17 season in the Premiership after he joined from Norwich City.

The Englishman kept nine clean sheets during 27 games in Scotland and Matthews is delighted to have joined Patrick Viera's Eagles.

He told Palace TV: “I can’t wait to get started. I'm excited to work with Dean Kiely again because he helps me improve.

"I’ve got two great goalkeepers to look up to in Vicente Guaita and Jack Butland. It’s great to be a part of it, and I’m really looking forward to it.

Palace chairman Steve Parish said: “Remi brings plenty of Football League experience with him, and we are really pleased to add him to our goalkeeping ranks, where he will continue to develop under the tutelage of Dean Kiely, alongside Vicente Guaita and Jack Butland.”
