Crystal Palace seal £2.5m Jordan Ayew transfer

Striker Jordan Ayew has signed a three-year deal with Crystal Palace having spent last season on loan with the Eagles.

The 27-year-old, who joins from Championship side Swansea for £2.5million, scored just twice in all competitions under Roy Hodgson last season, including an FA Cup winner against Grimsby.

With Michy Batshuayi now back at Chelsea after his six-month loan spell at Selhurst Park last season, Hodgson has been left short in attack. Connor Wickham has managed an injury-free pre-season thus far and told Standard Sport last week that he felt back to his “old self”.

Ayew joins Wickham, Christian Benteke and Alexander Sorloth as Hodgson's attacking options ahead of the new campaign.

"I am very happy [to have returned]. I really enjoyed myself last season,” Ayew, who scored twice for Ghana at the Africa Cup of Nations told the club website.

"I enjoyed the stadium, the fans, the boys - they were really good to me - everything here was positive and that's why I decided to continue with Crystal Palace."

Hodgson said: "We are delighted to secure Jordan's services for another three seasons at Crystal Palace. He has proved himself as a dedicated and hard-working member of the squad, and certainly played his part in the club securing its highest ever Premier League points tally in the last campaign."
