Vicente Guaita - Dealt with everything that came his way, which was a fair amount, although nothing that he would not have expected to manage. 6
Joel Ward - Kept Leandro Trossard quiet in the main, bar one good run the Belgian made in the first half. 6
Scott Dann - Was not given too much to worry about at the back. Brighton had most of the ball in the first half, but he kept them away from Guaita's goal for the most part. 7
Gary Cahill - Missed a great chance in the first half to open the scoring, but did his job at the back really well. 7
Patrick van Aanholt - Another who did well in his defensive capacity. 7
James McCarthy - Went off injured at half-time. Had little impact on the game. 5
James McArthur - Hardly noticed him. Went about his business in the middle of the park. 5
Cheikhou Kouyate - Carried the ball forward well on occasion and took command of the middle of the pitch. 7
Jordan Ayew - Pretty quiet but scored the all-important goal. 7
Wilfried Zaha - Flitted in an out of the game. He normally thrives on these derby matches, but did not have the impact he would have been hoping for. How he didn't score at the death I do not know. 6
Christian Benteke - Missed a couple of good chances. Didn't do a lot until playing in Ayew for the goal. 5

Jairo Riedewald - Came on for McCarthy at half-time and played really well. Acted as a brilliant shield in front of the defence. 7
Cenk Tosun - Not on for long although did set up Zaha for a chance he should have scored. 5
