Crystal Palace player ratings: Tyrick Mitchell good, Scott Dann poor as Man City claim points

Vicente Guaita: Not required to do much in the opening 45 minutes. Beaten by a Jesus volley but the striker was offside. Could do absolutely nothing about Aguero's opener, but may be a little more disappointed with Torres' goal. Got down low and bravely to cut out a couple of through balls. Made a decent save at his near post. 6

Joel Ward: A decent first half, getting forward well in addition to his defensive duties. Played a dangerous ball across goal that eventually saw Benteke's shot saved. Alert to balls in over the top that City tried to find Sterling with. Dealt well with Sterling for the main part, though the attacker did get a couple more opportunities as the game became stretched. 7

Cheikhou Kouyate: Looked decent in the first half, alive to try and nip in to steal the ball on numerous occasions. Perhaps could have been tighter on Aguero for the opener. 6

Scott Dann: The source of frustration from the bench with his poor distribution that put Palace under pressure. Strong aerially in both boxes, as you'd expect. 4

Tyrick Mitchell: Made a fantastic block to prevent Sterling opening the scoring in the opening 20 minutes. Spotlight was on him slightly after replacing Van Aanholt, and gave a very good account of himself. 8

Luka Milivojevic: Could have done with speeding it up a bit on the ball, with his complacency leading to Palace losing the ball when in a decent position heading up the pitch. Played a delightful pass in behind for Zaha, but it was unfortunately flagged offside. Picked up a booking for a cynical tackle to stop a counterattack. Looked in over the top on occasion but couldn't find Zaha with a killer pass. 6

Jairo Riedewald: Not too much to do on the ball in the opening stages, but his runs beyond the midfield helped push the team forward. Snatched at a couple of shots that flew over. A little unfortunate to be hooked as Hodgson looked to change the game early on. 6

Ebere Eze: Lively from the middle, and was in the thick of things early on. Dragged a shot wide after a nice dummy. Put in a good shift defensively, too, making a key tackle on Sterling before half-time. Lost the ball a little too often in the second half, gifting City the opportunity to counter on a couple of occasions. 6

Andros Townsend: Found Benteke with a cross early on. Put in some hard work but unable to force a real opening against a well-drilled City side. Put in a dangerous cross but no Palace player was on the end of it. Replaced with 10 minutes to go. 6

Wilfried Zaha: Had a few chances to run at defenders in the opening half but came out second best. Frustrations were clear in the second half when a counter was prevented and no yellow card was shown, with an understandable tirade following against the referee. Showed flashes of danger in the second half as he broke down the left wing and flashed in crosses, but couldn't find a teammate. 6

Christian Benteke: Had an early sight of goal with a header, but couldn't direct it on target. Had a close-range effort but was too near to Ederson to put it past him. A good battle with Ake throughout, and put in a valuable contribution defensively, saving a goal with a great block. Replaced with 25 minutes remaining. 6

Subs:

Jeff Schlupp: Was being readied to help bring Palace back into the game after the first goal, but by the time he came on it was 2-0. Combined well to help set up his own chance after a good move, but couldn't really test Ederson with his shot.

Jean-Philippe Mateta: Brought on to replace Benteke, but it doesn't seem like the target man role suits him as well as it does Benteke.

Jordan Ayew: On for the last 10 minutes or so but had little impact from the right of attack.
