Crystal Palace player ratings: Tomkins & Wan-Bissaka standout as Eagles lose on Spurs' big night

Vicente Guaita

Made one terrific save down low to stop Christian Eriksen early on, but then did fumble a Son shot around his post, rather luckily. 6

Patrick van Aanholt

Made a few marauding runs down the left and defended ok in the main, with the two goals nothing to do with him. Almost scored with a cross that floated towards the far corner, only to be clawed away by Lloris. 6

Luka Milivojevic

At fault for the first goal in the new stadium. He was outmuscles by Eriksen, of all people to lose the ball, and when Son cut inside from Erisken's pass, Milivojevic's slide deflected the shot and took it away from Guaita. 5

New Tottenham stadium: What is printed on the front of the Spurs shirts vs Crystal Palace

James Tomkins

Headed everything away in the centre of the defence but perhaps he should have done more than stood and watched as Eriksen knocked home the second goal. 7

Cheikhou Kouyate

Sat in front of his back four, marshalling play well. Did try to get forward when Palace went behind, but like many of his teammates, didn't see too much of the ball in an attacking sense. 6

Wilfried Zaha

Struggled to see any of the ball in the first half. Had a minor set-to with Sissoko in the second half and eventually came to life when the Eagles were 2-0 down, drawing a good save out of Lloris. 6

Jeffrey Schlupp

Had a glorious early chance, but blazed it over the bar. 6

James McArthur

He hassled and harried, like he always does, trying to get his team on the front foot and put one ball into the box that Benteke only had to head home, but he put it wide. 7

Michy Batshuayi

Had a shot early in the second half that whistled past Hugo Lloris' far post, but didn't really have much chance to get on the ball as Spurs pressed. 5

Five things we noticed about the opening ceremony at Tottenham Hotspur's new stadium

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

What a player he is. Kept Spurs at bay down their left and not only that but he brought the ball out of defence superbly well too. Such a talent. 8

Martin Kelly

Had a few hairy moments at the back, and should have been punished when he gave a poor ball away allowing Kane to run through, but the England man shot over the top. 5

Substitutes:

Christian Benteke

Made a nuisance of himself, but he should have scored. Free header from a McArthur centre and he put it wide. 4

Andros Townsend

Didn't see much of the ball on what must have been an emotional night for him. 5
