Crystal Palace player ratings as Van Aanholt and Ayew woeful, Liverpool run riot

Vicente Guaita : Left up the creek without a paddle for pretty much all of Liverpool's goals. 5

Nathaniel Clyne : Not a first half to remember against his former club. Was left marking Firmino as Minamino scored in the opening minutes. Then couldn't do enough to stop Mane adding the second, and could not prevent Robertson getting a cross in for Firmino to make it three. 3

Gary Cahill : Not tight enough to anyone on the first goal. The first time recently that his partnership with Cheikhou Kouyate has really looked off the pace. Had opportunities to get onto in the opponents' box, but gave away free-kicks too often. 4

Cheikhou Kouyate : A bit of a sloppy performance. On more than one occasion he let the ball bounce and put himself under pressure, with Mane nicking it off him in a dangerous area. Replaced by Tomkins in the second half. 4

Patrick van Aanholt : Whether the opposition are targeting his flank or not, another opening goal that comes down Palace's left. Played an absolute hospital pass that was lucky to only bring about a corner from Minamino's effort. Lacklustre passing and an odd decision to try an acrobatic clearance during the move for Liverpool's fifth. A well below par performance. 3

Jeff Schlupp : A constant danger in the opening 45, putting in a couple of crosses that deserved better from either side. Liverpool found it tough to pick him up, with his running on the ball also a problem. Never gave up and in truth was Palace's only real positive from the day. 6

Luka Milivojevic : Passing was lacking a little when looking over the top for Zaha or Ayew. His head dropped at 4-0 down after another misplaced ball to Zaha. 4

James McArthur : Unable to halt Liverpool's march down the pitch. Not the worst offender, constantly tried to put pressure on but the opposition were a class above and frequently put him under pressure. Looked to tire and was replaced by Riedewald. 5

Ebere Eze : On the periphery for much of the game. Didn't get much time on the ball, but showed a few nice touches. 5

Wilfried Zaha : Put across a very dangerous cross that almost found a Palace teammate at the back-post. Frustrated on multiple occasions when teammates couldn't find him, and had arguments with teammates and officials throughout. 5

Jordan Ayew : Fantastic work-rate that helped Palace win the ball back on a few occasions in the opening 45, but missed his opportunity to show he should be ahead of Benteke in the starting XI. Found a little lacking with his final ball, particularly when his pass to Zaha was behind the striker when in on goal. Had one headed effort on target, but didn't cause Alisson a problem. 3

Subs :

James Tomkins: Not exactly the ideal time to make his first appearance since February for Palace, coming on at 4-0 down against the champions and current league leaders with Salah fresh off the bench.

Jairo Riedewald: Given a thankless task coming on at 5-0 down.

Michy Batshuayi: A couple of good touches in his cameo, but nothing he could do.
