Crystal Palace: Oliver Glasner reveals Adam Wharton latest amid mixed Conference League final injury update

Oliver Glasner has confirmed that Chris Richards and Adam Wharton will be available for selection ahead of Wednesday’s Conference League final against Rayo Vallecano.

The pair returned to training on Tuesday morning but Glasner admits a decision will be made tomorrow over whether either player is fit enough to start.

Richards missed Palace’s final game of the Premier League season at home to Arsenal on Sunday as he recovered from an ankle injury sustained during Palace’s 2-2 draw with Brentford.

Wharton came on as a second-half during the 2-1 defeat to Arsenal but had to be replaced soon after due to injuring his ankle following a coming together with Myles Lewis-Skelly.

Both players were in training before Palace travelled to Leipzig earlier today.

Richards, though, had to leave training early and Glasner says he and Wharton are still experiencing pain despite being in line for minutes.

“I won’t tell you if they can start or not, but they were available today in training,” Glasner said in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday evening.

“I said when we ended training, 36 hours to the start of the game, the medical department will work hard until late in the night and will start (working with Wharton and Richards) tomorrow.

“But at the end we will nominate the starting XI which is 100% fit. I will talk to them (Wharton and Richards) tomorrow morning again and if the player does not feel 100% for or I have a bit of concern then they don’t start.”

“The positive thing is that they could smell the training without big issues. Of course, they still have some pain but I think many players are feeling some pain after such a long season but everybody wants to participate. The final decision will be taken tomorrow.”
