Crystal Palace: Oliver Glasner issues injury update ahead of Conference League play-off second leg

Will Hughes and Odsonne Edouard have been ruled out of Crystal Palace’s Conference League second leg tie with Fredrikstad.

Palace manager Oliver Glasner did, however, confirm that Daichi Kamada would be fit, having missed the first leg at Selhurst Park last week.

Speaking to the media in Norway ahead of tomorrow night’s clash, which Palace lead 1-0 on aggregate, Glasner said Kamada’s return was ahead of schedule.

“Hughes told us he can't train and play tomorrow,” Glasner said.

“Fortunately, Kamada came back. He had an injury and he is back two weeks after it. The expectations were more four to six weeks so we need to have players available and be ready for the game.”

Kamada, who is in line to start against Fredrikstad, has missed the first three games of the season with a knee injury sustained in the Community Shield win over Liverpool earlier this month.

Palace take on Fredrikstad tomorrow evening as they look to book their place in the Conference League proper.

The Eagles, who will play their first European game away from home, are ahead on aggregate after Jean-Philippe Mateta’s instinctive header gave them a slender first-leg lead, and Glasner downplayed any talk of Palace being among the favourites for the Conference League.

I think it would be arrogant to think when you play a competition for the first time to talk about winning it,” he continued.

“It's the first time Palace plays outside England in a competitive game, so it's important to stay humble, and this is what we are doing as a team. We are going step by step.”
