Crystal Palace offer Vicente Guaita a new contract despite manager uncertainty

Crystal Palace want to extend goalkeeper Vicente Guaita’s contract at Selhurst Park.

The 36-year-old has just one year left on his current deal but is set to be offered a further year.

Guaita remains happy in south London and is willing to battle England international Sam Johnstone for the No1 spot at Palace next season.

He finished last season on the bench but made 27 appearances across the season to Johnstone’s 11.

Roy Hodgson signed Guaita in 2018 but there remains uncertainty about who will be Palace manager next season.

Palace are still uncertain about whether Hodgson wants to stay for a further year, in which he could mentor his potential successor Paddy McCarthy.
