Victor Camarasa is set to be handed his Crystal Palace debut as the Eagles face Colchester United in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.
The midfielder, who spent last season with Cardiff before joining Palace on loan in August, has been absent from the last two matchday squads despite being fit to play.
Manager Roy Hodgson will rotate his still-limited squad against Colchester with a number of players coming back from injury, while there could be a full debut for James McCarthy, who has only appeared from the bench so far this season.
Gary Cahill, who lifted the EFL Cup with Chelsea in 2015, made his debut in Saturday's historic first Premier League win over Manchester United, and believes Palace are ready for a cup run.
However, he has warned his new team-mates not to waste their stunning performance at Old Trafford by flopping against League Two opposition on Tuesday.
“There is no point in having the result, performance and motivation at Old Trafford to go and underestimate our opponents tonight," Cahill told Standard Sport.
"We need to show maximum respect to them and get a job done professionally.
“I see an opportunity to go on a cup run and get as far as we can.
"If you can manage to get to a quarter, semi or final it is wide open and ready to go.
"We take it one step at a time. Tonight we have a tough game but one we feel we should win if we go about it in the right way.”
