Crystal Palace goalkeeper Joe Whitworth has penned a new deal having established himself as the Under-23 starter in 2021/22 at the age of 18.
Whitworth has made the Palace Premier League first-team bench three times this season, against Aston Villa, Man City and more recently West Ham, as well as starting all three Papa John's Trophy matches. He was also on the bench for the Carabao Cup penalty shootout defeat to Newcastle United.
On his new deal, Whitworth said he looks forward to continue working hard in future, telling Palace's official website: “Signing this new contract extension means the world to me and my family, especially as they’re all Palace fans. It’s a dream come true to sign this new deal and I’m really looking forward to getting my head down and working hard in the future.”

Academy Director Gary Issott added that that contract handed to Whitworth is a sign the club are always keeping an eye on the future.
“Joe’s been at the Academy since the age of 13 and has put in a number of outstanding performances throughout the years," he said. "He has really worked hard to earn this contract extension.
“He’s one of a number of players who have now committed their long-term future to the club and this is great news. It shows how committed the owners and the club are to retaining and improving the best young talent.”
Palace have loaned out Jack Butland to Manchester United for the remainder of the season, when his contract at Selhurst Park expires, and Vicente Guaita's contract has 18 months left after triggering a 12-month extension at the end of 2022.
