Crystal Palace legend urges Aaron Wan-Bissaka to make transfer decision amid Man United interest

Crystal Palace legend John Salako believes that Aaron Wan-Bissaka should stay with the Eagles this summer, despite interest from Manchester United.

The right-back has been heavily linked with a move away from Selhurst Park this summer, after a standout season for the Eagles , with Wan-Bissaka being named the club's player of the season, and the player's player of the season.

Indeed, Palace have already turned down a £40million bid from the Red Devils for Wan-Bissaka this summer, with United now weighing up whether to return with a second bid, amid reports that the Eagles are holding out for £60million.

But Salako had a word of warning for Wan-Bissaka, adding that he could learn from how his team-mate Wilfried Zaha fared when making the move from Palace to Manchester United back in 2013.

"He’s got the world at his feet. But my only concern is that we had Wilfried Zaha leave at a young age and he didn’t cope," Salako told Love Sport Radio.

"He wasn’t mature enough and didn’t really settle in at Man United. He ended up coming back and has had the best spell of his career since he came back.

"He’s obviously another one linked with moving away but I’m just a bit concerned with Aaron."

However, Salako says he can fully understand why United would be looking at Wan-Bissaka as a potential long-term replacement for Antonio Valencia at right-back.

But he says that another season with Palace would be good for the 21-year-old, who is currently preparing to feature for England's U21 side at the European Championships this summer.

"It’s been his first full season and it’s been absolutely magnificent," said Salako.

"He couldn’t have been lying in bed and dreamed of a better debut season. He probably needs more games.

"It’s too early for Aaron. He needs another season. I’m not surprised United have come in because they could probably get him cheaper and they think they need to do something now."
