Crystal Palace injury news vs Aston Villa: James McArthur, Odsonne Edouard, Nathan Ferguson

Crystal Palace face Aston Villa this Saturday in a bid to extend their unbeaten Premier League run to eight matches and stay firmly in the hunt for a top-half finish this season.

The Eagles drew their last match 3-3 with Burnley at Turf Moor, while the Claret and Blue started life under new boss Steven Gerrard perfectly by seeing off Brighton 2-0 at Villa Park.

Palace are yet to taste defeat at Selhurst Park this season, having beaten Spurs and Wolves there and drawn against Brentford, Brighton, Leicester and Newcastle.

Patrick Vieira does not have a full squad to select from for the match, however. Below, football.london has gone through each of the manager's pressing injury issues ahead of the game.

James McArthur

James McArthur had started every Premier League game for Crystal Palace this season before picking up a hamstring injury that Patrick Vieira said would rule him out for a "couple of weeks."

However, according to The Athletic, McArthur's injury is more severe than Vieira initially suggested, with the Scotsman potentially out for up to eight weeks with a muscle tear picked up against Wolves a fortnight ago.

That means he could miss most of the festive period and the start of the New Year, which will be a big blow for the Eagles after his strong start to the season.

Odsonne Edouard

Despite coming off the bench against Burnley on Saturday, Odsonne Edouard didn't start the match thanks to a slight injury sustained during the week at Palace.

As a result, Patrick Vieira opted to start Jordan Ayew at Turf Moor, and could do so again if he feels Edouard isn't yet back up to full fitness for the Villa match.

The Frenchman has found the net three times in a Palace shirt since his summer arrival on deadline day but has recently been made to play out wide to accommodate Christian Benteke playing centrally.

Nathan Ferguson

Thanks to several injuries, Nathan Ferguson still hasn't made his Crystal Palace debut, despite signing well over a year ago for the Eagles from West Bromwich Albion.

However, that day is now getting ever closer as Patrick Vieira revealed last week that the young right-back had begun training with the first team and would be stepping up his recovery this week ahead of the Villa game.

The match will likely come too soon for Ferguson to be involved in the matchday squad, though he could become available for selection during December as Palace's fixture-list piles up.
