Crystal Palace hopeful of landing Newcastle-linked pair amid grim Steve Bruce admission

Here is your 4am Newcastle United transfer digest.

'I am never going to b******* them' - Steve Bruce's honest Newcastle transfer omission

Steve Bruce says he will never try to pull the wool over Newcastle United's fanbase - and has made it clear the club have very little to spend in the summer transfer window.

United are one of a handful of clubs who are yet to make the breakthrough in the summer market with no major signings through the door so far.

And Bruce admitted that Newcastle are awaiting the transfer business of the top six to see where they stand in terms of loan deals.

Bruce said: "The one thing I am never going to do is b******* them.

"And they know, everybody knows how difficult it is going to be.

"We haven't got a lot of money.

"And as managers we always want players and money to improve the team.

"That's our job - I don't think I am alone though in thinking it's going to be quiet, so we have to be patient.

"We have to wait for the big huge clubs and see what they do.

"I hope people take that the right way."

Newcastle waiting on potential transfer windfall as Blackburn reject £15m Adam Armstrong bid

Blackburn Rovers have rejected a £15million bid for former Newcastle United youngster Adam Armstrong.

That is according to The Sun, who claim Rovers are holding out for closer to £25million after rejecting the initial advances of Premier League outfit Watford.

The Hornets reportedly offered forward Andre Gray to Tony Mowbray's side on a season-long loan as part of the deal but Blackburn appear to be holding firm.

Armstrong left Newcastle for just £1.7million back in the summer of 2018 but the club inserted a 40% sell-on clause in the deal meaning United could be set for a welcome cash injection should Armstrong be sold this summer.

Crystal Palace hopeful of striking double deal for Newcastle linked pair

Crystal Palace hope to pull off a double swoop for Ozan Kabak and Conor Gallagher this week.

The pair have both been linked with Newcastle United this summer but according to The Sun, Palace are confident of striking a deal for Schalke defender, Kabak, and a loan deal for Chelsea midfielder, Gallagher.

Palace are in talks with Kabak, according to the report, but have also identified Lyon defender Joachim Andersen - who spent last season on loan at Fulham - as a potential alternative.

It also claims Chelsea will clear Gallagher to leave the club on loan this week and the Eagles are confident of seeing off other interested parties, including Newcastle and Leeds.
