Crystal Palace hero has some advice for Aaron Wan-Bissaka after his move to Manchester United

Aaron Wan-Bissaka should stay patient and wait for his opportunity with England, after making the move from Crystal Palace to Manchester United.

That's the verdict of former Palace goalkeeper Nigel Martyn, who says he is confident that a senior call-up will come sooner rather than later for the Eagles academy product, who completed a £50million move to Manchester United on Saturday.

And although Martyn feels Wan-Bissaka faces competition for a place in Gareth Southgate's Three Lions squad, he believes that the 21-year-old will make the step up to senior level in the near future, adding that while he is eligible to play for DR Congo, he feels he is better waiting for the chance with England.

“Gareth [Southgate] has gone on picking players in form, but knowing him as I do, he’s also loyal to players he feels have done well for him. But, if [Aaron] Wan-Bissaka comes out all guns blazing at the start of the season, that loyalty can only last so long," Martyn said, speaking to  VoucherCodes.co.uk  as part of their Greatest Savers campaign.

“He’s living over here and playing in the Premier League. But it’s a personal thing and it’s about how connected you are to a particular country. He’s in a nice position where he does have the option, but if he continues his development the way he is, he will get an England call-up at some point.

"For the minute, I would just hold fire and try and force the way into the squad he wants to be in.”
