Crystal Palace have one of the most expensive membership schemes in the Premier League

The majority of Premier League clubs offer their fans the chance to sign up as members.

These membership schemes come with a host of benefits, ranging from club TV channel subscriptions to discounts in the club store. However, the main benefit that they offer fans is early access to matchday tickets.

Demand for tickets is expected to be huge this season, with fans by and large having been locked out of grounds since March 2020.

The result is that memberships are becoming a virtual, or for some clubs actual, necessity in order to get tickets, which isn’t great news for fans on a tight budget.

Leeds United have the most expensive membership scheme in the country, though Manchester United aren’t far behind.

A My Leeds+ membership costs £75 for new members, or £65 for those who are renewing, which puts it ahead of Manchester United’s Premium membership, which costs £62.

Crystal Palace’s Gold membership, meanwhile, costs £60, making it the third most expensive in the division. For this, Eagles fans get a welcome pack, full access to PalaceTV+ and a 72-hour advanced access window to purchase tickets among other benefits.

The club's cheapest adult membership costs £25, which is below the Premier League average of £35.87, but adult supporters need to buy this in order to actually access the ticketing platform.

Palace have had their fair share of ticketing problems so far this season, with many fans having problems downloading their season tickets onto their phones before games.

The club have tried to remedy this where possible by sending out individual e-tickets which, for the home match against Spurs on September 11, resulted in long queues at the turnstiles before and after kick-off plus lengthy waits on hold to the club's ticket office for many in the days leading up the game.

Palace’s Gold membership is followed by Leeds’ My Leeds at £50.

Tottenham Hotspur then have the next most expensive memberships in the division. A One Hotspur+ membership costs £48 whereas One Hotspur costs £45. Like with all other club memberships, Spurs' gives members priority ticket access, but those with an One Hotspur+ account get extra priority on top.

Chelsea, Leicester, West Ham, Aston Villa, and Brentford come next in the list with memberships costing £40 each. Liverpool’s is priced at £35.99, while deals for Manchester City, Everton, Southampton, and Wolves each cost £35.

It should be pointed out that the benefits which come with different clubs' memberships do vary, so none of the prices listed in this article are exact like-for-like comparisons.
