Crystal Palace handed fresh setback over January transfer target

Crystal Palace have been handed a January transfer blow after one of the players they have been linked with signing suffered a serious injury.

The Eagles have been heavily linked with a move for full-backs in January, with Roy Hodgson confirming on Friday that the Eagles were "optimistic" of bringing Tottenham full-back Kyle Walker-Peters to south London.

But another full-back who has been linked with a move to the Eagles is Angers' left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri, who has also been linked with Spanish side Atletico Madrid.

However, Get French Football News have reported that the France U21 international has now suffered an injury blow that could rule him out of a potential move in January.

As reported by Inside Futbol, Ait-Nouri has suffered a double fracture of his jaw, with the defender now set for an extended spell on the sidelines.

And Angers coach Stephane Moulin has given a worrying update on the 18-year-old, who has been linked with Palace as Hodgson looks to increase his options at left-back, with first team regular Patrick van Aanholt currently sidelined through injury.

"We aren't talking about weeks, but months," he said, speaking to AFP.

Ait-Nouri has played in 16 Ligue 1 matches for Angers this season, with the left-back providing three assists.

But while there has been speculation over a January transfer, amid interest from England and Spain, that now looks unlikely due to his unfortunate injury.
