Crystal Palace given injury scare ahead of Huddersfield Town clash

Crystal Palace have been handed an injury scare after Aaron Wan-Bissaka withdrew from the England U21 squad this afternoon (Saturday).

The Palace right-back was not involved as England's U21 side drew 1-1 with Poland on Thursday night, amid reports that he was on standby for a call-up to the senior squad, should there be any further injuries among Gareth Southgate's squad.

That did not materialise before England's Euro 2020 qualifier against Czech Republic last night (Friday), which the Three Lions won 5-0 at Wembley.

And now, it has been confirmed this afternoon (Saturday) that Wan-Bissaka has withdrawn from the England U21 squad ahead of their friendly against Germany on Tuesday night in Bournemouth.

The FA announced on their website this afternoon that Wan-Bissaka and striker Tammy Abraham had both withdrawn through injury, although the statement did not specify details of the injuries.

But the news will be a concern for Palace, who have eight games remaining in their battle to stay in the Premier League.

The Eagles currently sit five points ahead of Cardiff City, who are third from bottom, with Palace set to host bottom side Huddersfield Town after the international break.

Wan-Bissaka has been a regular for Roy Hodgson's side this season, featuring in 27 matches in the Premier League.

The 21-year-old also featured in the Eagles' FA Cup quarter-final defeat at Watford last weekend, a game that Palace's talisman Wilfried Zaha missed with a hamstring strain.
