Crystal Palace given Burnley injury update as Sean Dyche hopeful of return for key man

Sean Dyche says Nick Pope is ready to return to the Burnley line up for Saturday's clash against Crystal Palace.

The keeper missed Burnley's FA Cup fifth round defeat against Bournemouth on Tuesday, but Dyche confirmed that the England international has returned to training ahead of the trip to Selhurst Park.

He was also joined by midfielder Jack Cork, but there are some doubts for the clash against Roy Hodgson's team, with Chris Wood possibly missing out.

The New Zealand international limped out of the Clarets' loss against Chelsea at Stamford bridge with a hamstring issue, while Charlie Taylor and Robbie Brady are both likely to miss the trip as they step up their injury comebacks.

"Corky and Popey have recovered and trained today, that's good news," admitted Dyche. "Charlie Taylor is getting fitter and will be tough and go.

"Robbie Brady is similar but different to Charlie [Taylor], it's the risk and reward of playing these guys.

"Woody is a doubt for the weekend. Josh Brownhill has settled down. It was a soft tissue injury so we're pleased with that but it has kept him out a lot longer than we thought.

"But he's settling down now so he's certainly in with a chance for the weekend."

Burnley can at least be comforted by the fact that their six current injury worries pales in comparison to the 10 players Palace are without - though James McArthur and Joel Ward could both make a return to the squad for Saturday's game.

Wilfried Zaha is all but certain to miss the game due to the hamstring injury picked up against Newcastle at St James' Park. Palace and Roy Hodgson will be hoping they can overcome their awful recent record without the Ivory Coast star in the squad, with the pressure to create in front of goal likely to fall on the shoulders of Ebere Eze and new signing Jean-Philippe Mateta.
