Crystal Palace fans will love what Luka Milivojevic has said about why he signed a new contract

Luka Milivojevic is already a popular figure among Crystal Palace supporters.

The Serbian midfielder has become a firm fans' favourite since joining Palace from Greek side Olympiakos in January 2017, with the 28-year-old finishing each of the last two seasons as the club's top goalscorer.

He is also the captain of the side, and recently put pen to paper on a new four-year contract with the Eagles, much to the delight of Palace fans.

But what Milivojevic has said about the club and the reasons why he has signed a new deal is sure to go down well with the club's supporters.

"One of the reasons I signed is to play in front of our great fans," he told the club website.

"It is not just because I am Palace [that I say this] but in my opinion we have the best fans. It will be amazing to keep going and playing in front of them and to do the best for this great club and the great fans.

"I am very delighted to have signed a new contract and to continue to play for this great club. I have to thank the chairman and I am delighted to continue working with Roy Hodgson, who is a great manager and a great man.

"As well, I am very happy that I will be in the same dressing room, hopefully for the next four years. I must say, we have a very good group of players and I am very happy to keep working with them.

"We have a lot of good players, and good characters with great mentality. At the moment I am the captain because the manager decides, but also as well we have many players in the dressing room who could be captain and when we are trying to reach our aims, it is much easier when you have similar characters."

Crystal Palace: 2019/20 season preview

Milivojevic started for Palace in their opening game of the new season against Everton, and is in line to feature again this weekend when the Eagles travel to face newly-promoted Sheffield United.
