Crystal Palace fans hail return of Holmesdale Fanatics after 'electric' Selhurst Park atmosphere

Crystal Palace fans rejoiced after seeing their team end a run of eight games without a win with a 2-0 victory over Burnley, but the game also marked the return of the club's loyal Holmesdale Fanatics.

The group of 'ultras' have been prominent supporters in the Holmesdale Road End for the 13 seasons but have not been present this season after the club refused to move them to Block E, placed directly by the goal.

This week Palace confirmed plans for a "singing section" in Block E from next season, moving the Holmesdale Fanatics from their traditional position of near the corner in Block B.

However, they returned for the match today and clearly brought good luck to Roy Hodgson's side as they secured a vital win thanks to goals from James McArthur and Andros Townsend.

Fans took to social media to voice their delight about the return of Palace's die-hard supporters and suggested the improvement in the atmosphere helped the team to victory.

One Twitter user wrote: "The atmosphere at Selhurst Park was electric today. So good to have the @ULTRAS_CPFC back. Excited for next season already."

One fan took a sarcastic approach: "The HF don't [sic] make a difference to our atmosphere...said no Palace fan ever!"

Another wrote: "Well happy, perfect performance and result.. atmosphere wasn’t bad too. Block E Hasn’t won us a game before have they?"

Palace fan Declan said: "Such a big win today. Absolutely no coincidence that we put a performance in like that with the HF back. Atmosphere was improved so much. Meyer undoubtedly MOTM and some of the pressure is lifted. Two more massive games coming up this week now. Four points would be great."

"Beautiful football @CPFC and wonderful atmosphere welcome back @ULTRAS_CPFC made the difference."

The Eagles face a tough trip to fierce rivals Brighton on Tuesday evening and will be hoping to have the Holmesdale Fanatics along with them for the local derby clash.
