Crystal Palace eye Sean Dyche as Roy Hodgson replacement after seven-game losing run

Crystal Palace are targeting Sean Dyche as their next boss - with Roy Hodgson facing the chop.

It's believed Palace chairman and part-owner Steve Parish is stepping up plans for a change after a horror run of seven straight defeats coupled with no goals in their last three games.

Hodgson, 72, is under the microscope with Palace facing Tottenham at Selhurst Park on Sunday in their final Premier League match of the campaign.

Palace are safe – but it's understood Parish has been less than impressed with results even though five of the seven defeats were against teams in the top five.

Parish has remained loyal to Hodgson who signed a new one-year deal in March.

But there's a boardroom belief it's time for a managerial change – with Dyche firmly in the frame.

Dyche, 49, has been at Burnley eight years and turned the Clarets into an established Premier League club in the last four season after promotion in 2016.

Given wage and transfer budgets the straight-talking former defender has over-achieved at Turf Moor.

Dyche would like purse strings loosened at Burnley and that's led to tensions with majority shareholder and chief executive Mike Garlick who runs a tight ship.

In April, Garlick claimed Burnley faced going bust if football didn't start before August and Dyche has already been warned budgets are tighter still ahead of next season.

Many believe Dyche has taken the club as far as he can and may have to sell top players like goalkeeper Nick Pope and impressive young winger Dwight McNeill this summer.

Dyche has his family home in Northampton, much closer to Palace's training base than Burnley.

But if he's tempted he'd want to take key backroom staff with him – including trusted assistant Ian Woan.
