Crystal Palace deliver brilliant response to Chelsea over the Blues' new Nike third kit

Crystal Palace have hit back at Chelsea over their new third kit.

The Blues released their new Nike third strip this morning and it looked very much like a Palace home kit.

The new 'ember glow' - that's light red in English - and ultramarine (blue)-striped shirt has attracted plenty of attention already on social media.

And Palace have joined in with the act, a little unhappy with the likeness when it comes to the Eagles' iconic home kit.

The new Chelsea third kit was released with the hashtag #ItsAChelseaThing, and Palace have quote retweeted the release on Twitter, saying #ItsNotThoughIsIt

The Chelsea kit is meant to be "inspired by the 1990s Ultramarine Nike Air Max 180 trainers and classic shirts of the past," and it is a lighter shade of red than that seen every other Saturday at Selhurst Park.

But at a glance, there is no doubt it resembles a Palace home shirt, and that has got both the club and fans a little unhappy, especially with the 'It's a Chelsea thing' slogan.

One fan replied: "Think its inspired by Palace tbh," and another added: "Palace away should be fun chaps."

Fortunately for Palace fans, they won't have to bare the red and blue stripes with a Chelsea badge being worn too often.

Chelsea's away shirt is glass blue, and given the third kit shares a large chunk of the blue similar to what is seen on their home shirt, it's unlikely to be worn regularly in the Premier League.
