Crystal Palace close in on Nathan Ferguson as Roy Hodgson targets one more signing before deadline

Crystal Palace are closing in on a deal for West Brom full-back Nathan Ferguson.

The 19-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of the season, is set to join in a deal understood to be worth £4million.

With Roy Hodgson keen to lower the average age of his squad, Ferguson ticks many boxes.

Ferguson - an England Under-20 international - has garnered interest from across Europe's top five leagues with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.

West Brom were reluctant to let Ferguson leave midway through a Premier League promotion push, but have decided to cash in with otherwise a nominal training compensation fee coming their way in the summer.

Palace have been desperate to add a full-back since the £50million sale of Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United in the summer and had hoped to bring in Kyle Walker-Peters from Tottenham before Southampton swooped in to secure a six-month loan deal this week.

The club hope to get at least one more deal over the line before Friday's deadline and are continuing to push to sign Belgian winger Yannick Carrasco.
