Crystal Palace chase Hearts defender as Wilfried Zaha issues Aaron Wan-Bissaka verdict

Premier League football may be on hold but that doesn't stop the flow of news in the football world, which continues to churn in these strange times.

Football in the top-flight and the EFL is suspended until at least April 30, with it widely expected that the restrictions in place will be extended.

Thankfully, we have the latest stories surrounding Crystal Palace to keep you entertained.

Palace lead Aaron Hickey chase

Crystal Palace are among the clubs chasing the services of Hearts defender Aaron Hickey, alongside Everton and Manchester City, The Daily Mail reports.

The 19-year-old burst onto the scene with the Scottish side last season and caught the eye in his two appearances against Celtic, including one in the Scottish Cup final.

The fight for his signature is fierce, with Southampton and Celtic also keen, but Roy Hodgson's side are reportedly in pole position to land the teenager.

Wilfried Zaha's Wan-Bissaka verdict

Wilfried Zaha has been speaking about Aaron Wan-Bissaka's performances at Manchester United and is not surprised by the praise his former teammate is receiving.

The full-back left Selhurst Park last summer to move to United in a £50m deal and has quickly established himself in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's squad.

Zaha, who knows how difficult it can be to become established at United from his own spell at Old Trafford, praised his impact at the club.

“He is very good, so hard to get past him. Have I watched him at United? I've watched a few games, what I thought of him is what I thought before.

“Everything that people are saying now - calling him 'The Spider' - we knew before, it is just that he is playing in front of the world now. We were saying it all before but it is nice to see the world know it now.”

UEFA chief makes 2019/20 season claim

The 2019/20 European football season “would probably be lost” if it does not restart by the end of June at the very latest, according to UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin.

UEFA have drawn up multiple scenarios for what may need to happen in the coming weeks and months for leagues right across the continent.

Despite that, however, Ceferin cannot assure people that it will be possible to bring the current season to an end, as nobody can predict how long the severity of the COVID-19 outbreak could possibly last for.

Speaking to an Italian daily newspaper, La Repubblica, Ceferin explained: “Nobody knows when the pandemic will end. We have a plan A, B or C: to restart in May, in June or at the end of June.

"If then we wouldn't be able to do any of these, the season would probably be lost. There is also the possibility of ending this season at the start of the next, which would then be postponed, starting a little later.

"We're in touch with the leagues, the clubs, there is a working group and we'll see what solution is best for all. We have to wait, like any other sector."
