Crystal Palace captain Luka Milivojevic will not step down from penalty-taking duty despite his miss against Everton.
Milivojevic was denied by Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford at Goodison Park on Sunday before Palace conceded twice in the closing minutes to lose 2-0.
The Serbia midfielder has a good record from 12 yards since moving to Palace in January 2017.
His only other miss in 11 previous attempts came when he fluffed an injury-time penalty against Manchester City last season.
“I was 100 per cent sure that I was going to score,” Milivojevic said on his miss at Everton. “I step up to take responsibility to try to make something good and positive for my team and in the end you miss and after that you are punished in the last five minutes. It is hard and very painful.
“Just in the end I think I did a mistake in my last step before the shot and maybe that decided it, but I have confidence to take another one and score for my team.”
Struggling Palace play Arsenal at Selhurst Park on Sunday at the start of the tough run of games for the Eagles.
Milivojevic said: “We know how to get out of that situation because we have been in a worse situation last season.
