Crystal Palace call on fans to back £20m academy upgrade plans

Crystal Palace are calling on supporters to back their plans to overhaul the club’s academy after submitting their plans to Bromley Council.

Chairman Steve Parish announced a £20million redevelopment of the club’s academy facilities as they seek to land Category One status in order to open up opportunities to land the best local talent which in the past they have missed out on.

The redevelopment sits at the heart of a three-year plan Parish has laid out for the club as he looks to "kick on" with Palace.

“We know that the academy is such a powerful thing,” he said in an interview with Standard Sport this week . “In terms of what it means to everybody, but also financially it benefits the club.

”We’ve got to put the finances in place and, at the same time, make sure that we do well in the Premier League.

“We have to bring through more Wilfrieds [Zaha] and Aarons [Wan-Bissaka’s].”

Palace aim to achieve Category One status by next season and fans can now comment on the plans on the Bromley Council website.
