Crystal Palace arrive in unusual way for Liverpool game at Anfield

An Anfield devoid of supporters is not the only unusual sight you will see at Liverpool’s match versus Crystal Palace tonight.

The Reds’ first home game since the Premier League restarted will be played behind-closed-doors – like every other fixture in England this season.

But the coronavirus crisis has also had an impact on the way that Palace have travelled up to Merseyside this evening.

The Eagles would usually fly by aeroplane or come by team bus for games in the north-west.

But instead Roy Hodgson’s squad have made their way to Anfield in 20 separate people carriers – as the video at the top of this article shows.

Palace drove up from London today and will travel back south straight after the match.

They will not be staying overnight at a hotel.

Their method of transport effectively works out around one car per player.

Should Liverpool beat the Eagles, they would move within two points of winning the Premier League title.

And the Reds would be declared champions tomorrow night if second-placed Manchester City dropped points at Chelsea.
