Crystal Palace 0-2 Man City: Sergio Aguero puts champions-elect on brink of title

Sergio Aguero’s stunning half-volley broke Crystal Palace’s resistance and leaves Manchester City just one win away from the Premier League title.

Pep Guardiola made eight changes with Tuesday’s Champions League semi-final second leg against Paris Saint-Germain to come, with Aguero coming in for a rare start.

City struggled to click in a goalless opening 45 minutes, with Guardiola visibly frustrated in his dugout with his players. The visitors controlled possession but Palace were finding it relatively easy to soak up the pressure.

The second half was a different matter and Aguero broke the deadlock in the 57th minute for only his second Premier League goal of the season, and what may prove to be his last in City colours ahead of his announced summer exit.

Benjamin Mendy picked out the Argentinian inside the area and he rifled into the roof of the net to make the most of his rare start.

It was 2-0 just 84 seconds later when Ferran Torres curled home from outside the area to all but make the points safe for City.

City will clinch the title should they beat Chelsea next Saturday, or could be crowned winners this weekend if Liverpool beat Manchester United at Old Trafford.
