Crysencio Summerville eyeing Leeds United legend status as he reveals Raphinha number blessing

Crysencio Summerville has revealed he asked for the 'blessing' of Raphinha for his number because he wants to become a legend at Leeds United. Summerville was handed the 10 shirt at the start of this season following Raphinha's summer move to Barcelona.

The 21-year-old was handed a four-year deal in July but had never started a Premier League match for Leeds when he was given his new number, which as a result came as quite a surprise to supporters. But in recent weeks, Summerville has started to justify the club's faith with three goals in his last three matches, including dramatic late winners against Liverpool and Bournemouth.

Summerville was desperate for more game time during the course of last season and after being made to be patient, is now becoming a key player. Speaking in an interview with De Telegraaf, Summerville detailed his ambition of gaining legendary status at Elland Road and admitted the feeling of his recent late winners is 'indescribable.'

He said: “One goal of mine is that I want to be one of the better players in Europe in the long term. I want to become important to Leeds, become a legend here.

"That’s why I got the blessing of Raphinha to take his jersey number. That this is ambitious? Sure, but I always set the bar high for myself and also have full confidence in myself.

“I thought: I want this feeling every week, for the club. Another beautiful moment has come on top of that on our own Elland Road. Indescribable. I believe very much in God and think that everything happens for a reason. Anfield, scoring there and also winning, that’s just a boyhood dream.”
