Cryptic Edinburgh love letter left on street to track down mystery 'Guy' from gig

A hopeless romantic is on a quest to find a “Guy’ in Leith after they had met their prince charming at a gig but had forgotten to ask for their number.

The note which has been stuck to a lamppost on Bothwell Street in the People’s Republic of Leith contains a message and a phone number with two digits missing.

Flo, who is assumed to be the woman behind the note, had left a riddle for “Guy” which asks him to fill out the blanks by using numbers that correspond to letters in the alphabet.

The first clue for the first missing digit was “your mate from the gig, 1st letter of their country” and this is followed by “Last letter of the band name.”

When the picture was shared in the ‘I Love Leith’ Facebook group, it evoked a passionate reaction.

Many were desperate to find out how the love story of our time had developed - did Flo find her Romeo or had ‘Guy’ avoided a bunny in a pot and a fatal attraction.

One Facebook user said: “I hope who wrote this finds this post and lets us know the update. It's like a scene of a romcom and I'm here for it.”

Another commented: “It took me reading all of the comments in this thread to realise the guy was named Guy and she wasn’t just yelling ‘GUY’ in the hopes the right one would know.”

We don’t know about you, but we at Edinburgh Live are already looking forward to the wedding one we finally track down ‘Guy’.

Do you know who ‘Guy’ is?
