Cruz Beckham is stepping deeper into the music world and getting a taste of both the excitement and the criticism that comes with it. The 19-year-old released two new singles, Optics and Lick The Toad, and has been performing them for small but enthusiastic crowds while he works on carving out his own sound.

But along with the buzz came a wave of comments comparing his music to The Beatles and Oasis, and Cruz wasn’t having it.

On Sunday, he took to Instagram Stories to respond after several people claimed his tracks sounded too similar to the legendary groups. He shared a screenshot of the comments and wrote that this is what writing a song looks like. He added that some people hurt his brain and said that jealousy creates delusion. It was a blunt reply, but it made his point.

His pushback came right after he posted a picture of his pinky finger wrapped in a bandage. He didn’t explain how he injured it, but he showed it off with a peace sign emoji like he was shrugging it off.

The rest of the week was much lighter. Cruz performed with his band, The Breakers, and the night turned into a family moment. His dad David Beckham gave him a tight hug after the show. His girlfriend Jackie Apostel was right beside him, cheering him on with a smile that said everything. Later, Cruz posted photos from the night and called it an amazing experience.

Jackie shared her own moment too, posting a picture of the couple sharing a kiss. Fans picked up on their matching fur coats, which made the photo even sweeter. The two started dating in June 2024 and went public with their relationship a few months later in October.

David also posted a clip of Cruz singing and said the family was proud of his growth. Victoria Beckham shared her own message and said he looked happy on stage. Friends and relatives filled the comments with even more support, making it clear Cruz’s circle is solidly behind him.

During the show, Cruz performed Optics, a track with bold lyrics and an edgier tone, while Lick The Toad leaned into a softer mood inspired by nature. Jackie hinted that the two singles might just be the start. She suggested that a full album could be coming soon, sparking more excitement from fans who are curious to see how Cruz continues shaping his identity as an artist.
