Crusaders vs Glenavon postponed amid concerns over Covid-19

Wednesday night's Irish Premiership clash between Crusaders and Glenavon has been postponed.

A Northern Ireland Football League statement confirmed that the game was off following a "request made in agreement of both competing clubs".

The statement did not elaborate on the reasons behind the postponement, but Belfast Live understands it is due to concerns related to Covid-19.

No new date has been set for the rescheduling of the game.

One fixture does go ahead on Wednesday night with Coleraine hosting Glentoran at the Showgrounds.

The NI Football League will be keeping a close eye on developments at Stormont this week, and any further restrictions imposed by the NI Executive to deal with the ongoing threat of Covid.

The Welsh Government announced on Monday that festive sporting fixtures would go ahead behind closed doors, while outdoor events in Scotland will be limited to 500 people from Boxing Day for a three-week period.

The move comes amid increasing numbers of Omicron cases.
