Crusaders FC appoint former player Nathan Hanley as Head of Youth Development

Crusaders have appointed former player Nathan Hanley as Head of Youth Development.

Hanley - whose playing career included spells with clubs including Hull City, Ballymena United, Linfield, Carrick Rangers, Ards and the Crues - has been working as the Shore Road outfit's Community Coordinator.

The 29-year-old will now fill the role left by the retiring Mervyn Montgomery.

"We are sad to announce that Mervyn Montgomery our Head of Youth Development has decided to retire," the North Belfast club in a statement.

"We as a club want to thank Mervyn for all of his time, effort and commitment, and his meticulous approach in improving structures within the Football Development Centre.

"We wish him all the best and hope he won’t be a stranger at Seaview."

The Crues added: "Therefore, the club would like to announce that ex-player and current Community Coordinator Nathan Hanley has been appointed as the new Head of Youth Development.

"We want to wish Nathan good luck in his new role."
