Crumlin United four-goal hero Ryan Gorman will be 'hard to drop now'

Ryan Gorman reckons he’ll be hard to drop now after bagging four in Crumlin United’s 5-1 Intermediate Cup romp at home to Markethill Swifts.

After a goal in last week’s 4-1 drubbing of Drumaness, Saturday’s haul takes his total for the season to eight.

And as the oldest player in the team at 36, he hopes that he can cling on to the number 11 jersey for another while yet.

“Well, hopefully that keeps me in the team next week,” laughed Gorman who, with the exception of a brief spell away, has spent his entire youth and adult career at Mill Road.

“Just the four goals, but it should have been more, I missed one or two before I got the first one, but second half, they’ll just fell for me.”

Turning to the season, Gorman hopes the last two weekends and those two big wins mark a turning point.

“We’ve been doing all right in the cups but our league form doesn’t look good,” added Gorman (right).

“But our training has been top notch, really intense, and we’re creating loads of chances in the league but just not putting them away.

“But we scored four last week and five this week so we’re hoping to take that into the league now and we always thought it would just be a matter of time.”
