Crumlin 'stabbing' victim named as young dad Niall Magee

The 21-year-old dad who has tragically died following an alleged 'stabbing' in Crumlin has been named locally as Niall Magee.

Emergency services were called to Cairn Walk just before 3am on Saturday morning and three young men and a woman were later taken to hospital.

Niall, who was in a critical condition, passed away on Sunday morning.

Murder inquiry launched after Crumlin 'stabbing' victim dies 

Police have launched a murder inquiry following his death and have arrested four men, one of whom is still being treated at hospital.

A friend of the 21-year-old has shared their heartbreak at his death.

They told Belfast Live: "It’s just so sad that that wee baby has to grow with out a daddy and his mummy has to bury her son and his girlfriend lost her best friend.

"(This) place is so scary, I’m just lost for words now. I hope he rests in peace and looks over everyone he loved.

"I hope he gives his family and friends the strength to get through this difficult time. And I hope he gives his partner the strength to get through this. She has his son so she’ll always have a piece of him."

Sinn Féin councillor Anne Marie Logue has urged anyone with information to bring it to the police.

Councillor Logue said: “This killing of a 21-year-old man in Crumlin has shocked the local community.

“Another man is still in hospital following the incident and I hope he makes a full and speedy recovery. 

“A police investigation is now underway and I would encourage anyone with information to bring it forward. 

“My thoughts and sympathies are with the family and friends of the deceased man at this difficult time.

PSNI Detective Inspector Michelle Griffin said: "Sadly, the man died this morning as a result of his injuries.

Serious incident in Crumlin sees four people taken to hospital

"Four men aged 19, 24, 25 and 29 are in custody in connection with the incident and are assisting us with our enquiries.  

"I am appealing to anyone who was in the Cairn Walk area at around 2:50am yesterday morning and has information which may assist our investigation to contact detectives by calling the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 141 of 27/04/19."
