Christmas lights have gone up in Crumlin's main street after residents complained they had been "left in the dark" for a second year running.
Antrim and Newtownabbey Council voted to borrow lights from a neighbouring authority at a meeting picketed by Crumlin residents late last month.
In an amended motion, councillors also agreed to recognise Crumlin as one of the borough's five main towns, and for officers to take "all necessary steps" to include Crumlin in 2020 Christmas events.
On Thursday the loaned lights were installed along one side of Main Street.
Crumlin Deserves Better member Angela Ferrin said the lights were welcome - but they were still holding out for decorations on both sides of the street.
She said: "People from the community are saying 'at long last some lights'."
For the past two years residents said they were being "left in the dark and left till last", after the borough's four other towns - Glengormley , Antrim , Randalstown and Ballyclare - were lit up for Christmas.
Mrs Ferrin said the town would keep fighting to get its own lights.
She added: "We’ve been campaigning for two years to get quality for Crumlin - not lights from another town, to have our own lights."
